Snow for the Alps

Saturday
High pressure between the Azores and Iberia brings fair weather to Spain and Portugal, warmest in the south-west, topping 20C. A fair day too for the western Mediterranean, although a cool northerly wind affects southern France. Low pressure over the southern-central Mediterranean brings some rain to Sicily and the far south of Italy, also extending to western Greece and Albania. Largely dry elsewhere across south-eastern Europe, 13 to 17C.
Generally cool for northern Europe. Fronts moving across northern France and Belgium bring heavy rain and strong winds, which spreads into western Germany, highs 7 to 12C. A few showers across the Alps, then rain and snow spreads from the west into Switzerland later. Blustery showers for the Netherlands and southern Scandinavia, plus Poland and the Baltic states. Clusters of showers for eastern Sweden, with snow over higher ground inland. Frequent rain and snow for western Norway.

Sunday
Southern Spain and Portugal remain dry and warm, 20 to 23C. Cooler in northern Iberia, with showers around the Biscay coast. A few showers around the Adriatic and Sicily, but much of Italy should be dry. Low pressure across central Europe brings persistent rain to eastern France and southern Germany, and snow to increasingly low levels for Alpine regions. Chilly northerly winds bring heavy showers to Low Countries. Brighter for north-east Germany and Poland. Frequent snow showers for northern Norway. Scattered showers around the Baltic, but plenty of dry weather across Sweden. Generally cold across Scandinavia and northern-central Europe, 3 to 7C. Meanwhile, Greece , Turkey and areas around the Black Sea should stay dry and quite mild.
