Cold far north, snow for central Scandinavia


Saturday
High pressure extends across central & southern Europe bringing extensive fair weather and light winds. Temperatures generally mild. Partly cloudy for Portugal, but plenty of sunshine for Spain. Reaching 19C in the Algarve. Dry and sunny across Italy, the Balkans and Greece, highs 16C. Thundery showers south of Sicily.
Extensive sunshine for France, much of Germany and the Alps. A cold front across northern Germany and the Low Countries brings cloud and patchy rain to North Sea coasts, accompanied by brisk westerly winds. 8 to 10C in central Europe. Fronts extend across southern Scandinavia, bringing outbreaks of rain to Sweden, or snow in northern areas. Persistent rain in western Norway. Rain moves across northern Poland and the Baltic states during the day. Dry and very cold in the north of Scandinavia.


Sunday
High pressure across western Europe brings dry and mild weather to Spain, Portugal and France. Temperatures nearing 20C for Andalucia and the Algarve, and 16C for the French Riviera, although a brisk Mistral wind may develop. Fair weather extends across Italy and the Alps, plus the Balkans and Greece , broken cloud and some sunshine.
A frontal system moves across northern Europe in the early hours, bringing rain to Germany and Poland, although will clear from the west. Wet weather extends further across eastern Europe during the day, some snow over the mountains. Breezy for Denmark, with a few showers. Cloudy skies for southern Scandinavia. A risk of persistent snowfall around the Baltic coast of Sweden. Dry and very cold across northern Scandinavia, where high pressure slowly builds.
